Adam Wilkenfeld is a three-time Emmy Award-winning director, producer, interviewer, and writer whose work has reached audiences across North America and around the world. He created and executive produced Slobby’s World (Netflix) and Timber Kings (HGTV Canada), which ran for four seasons, spawned a spinoff, and became the #1 series in the network’s history. Adam also served as showrunner for the launch season of Timber Kings, which premiered with 4.5x the network’s average viewership in its timeslot.
Earlier in his career, Adam was Development Producer, Executive Producer, and Showrunner on Saw Dogs (Discovery), and spent more than a decade producing news and documentaries on social and medical issues impacting children and families. In that period, he conducted more than 2,000 interviews—often on deeply sensitive topics—and led crews through 25 U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Two of his Emmy Awards recognize Outstanding Documentary work; the third honors Best Public Affairs Programming.
Beyond television, Adam has brought his storytelling skills to campaigns for clients such as the New York State Education Department, Morehouse College, The Centers for Disease Control, Neutrogena, RL Leaders, the U.S. Army, THQ Video Games, Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles Unified School District, and many others. Whether for broadcast, documentary, or branded content, his work combines curiosity, empathy, and precision to create stories that resonate.
On Tucson’s legendary 4th Avenue, Generation Cool is part vintage store, part clubhouse and part time machine.
At the center is Slobby Robby, a charismatic collector and born showman with an encyclopedic knowledge of 1980s and ’90s culture. Alongside his equally unconventional crew, Slobby tracks down rare sneakers, jerseys, toys, jewelry and pop-culture artifacts, then figures out what they are worth, whether they are real and how to turn nostalgia into profit.
Every day brings a new hustle. Valuable pieces walk through the door. The team digs through thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales. Sneakers are restored, questionable items are put through “legit checks,” and bigger scores are taken to conventions or sold online to collectors willing to pay top dollar.
But the merchandise is only half the story.
Generation Cool is powered by clashing personalities, friendships, rivalries and a workplace culture where almost anything can happen. JR is Slobby’s loyal right hand and frequent target, Sierra challenges the boss when everyone else backs down, Zac will go almost anywhere for a great score, and the younger staff are still learning how this strange world works.
With Tucson’s anything-goes 4th Avenue as the backdrop, Slobby’s World is a fast, funny, character-driven series about the people who turned childhood obsession into a business, and made nostalgia cool again.
